With a population of 20,000, serves 100,000 people in Northeastern South Dakota. Location: Northeastern South Dakota located on I-29. We are one and one-half hours to Sioux Falls, tow hours to Fargo, North Dakota and four hours to Minneapolis, MN. Schools: We have five elementary schools with an average enrollment of 300 each, one middle school with 625 currently enrolled in grade 7-8 and one senior high with 1300 students in grades 9-12. We have a Technical Institute, Multi-District Vocational Career Center, and parochial schools. Mt. Medical and Dental: We have Prairie Lakes Health Care Center, a regional medical center; Mallard Point Surgical Center – numerous medical, dental and eye clinics – veterinarian clinics. Cultural Opportunities: Watertown has Community Concert series, Town Players, a community theater group, Travelogue series, museums, historical landmarks, Regional Library and the Terry Redlin Art Center. Government: We have no state income tax, low insurance rates, low crime rate, 24 hour fire and police protection and mayor and city council type of local government.
